The Perfect Desk Chair

I love this desk chair and I would like to find one like it - I bet I could find one at a antique fair, consignment store or the like.

If I found one, I'm sure it would need to be reupholstered. I would choose a black and white striped fabric. I think the black and white fabric paired with the brass frame and casters would look so chic.

This fabric which has a sort of john robshaw'esque' feel (at least to me) would be perfect (the price is perfect too)!

I would only need a yard and 1/2 given this nifty little yardage table for reupholstery projects. And, if the frame and casters weren't brass, I would paint it in Rustoleum's Metallic spray paint in brass. Or switch out the existing feet for these beauties!

Okay, now I gotta go out and find me this chair!! :)

Gruss Gott! Week One.

So, we made it one week in Vienna. Well, actually a week and a half. So far, so good. What I love about our apartment is the location. We are central to what seems like everything. This is the cafe you see when you walk out of our building.

So far, my favorite thing to do is to go to the Naschmarkt (1 block from our apartment) and enjoy all the fresh food. It is incredible. It certainly is a luxury to have fresh food daily - cheeses, wurst, bread, vegetables, pastries, etc. Here are some pictures I took yesterday.

They also have fresh flowers daily.

You can tell the Europeans are used to eating fresh foods daily as their refrigerators are so small. There is no room to store or freeze much of anything.

Luke completed 3 half days of his new Viennesse Montessori school. I am so proud of him. From what I can tell (at this early stage), the kindergarden school system is very different from the American. And, I can't get over how much smaller everything is here - especially the school class rooms and the playground (which they call 'garden'). It makes you really appreciate 'space'.

Elizabeth is faring well, but I am trying really hard to get her into a fixed sleeping schedule. Once I can do that, my daily routine will be easier and more predictable. So, for the time being, I am a bit limited with my outings around the city. I'm sticking to a radius of about half a mile.

This past week we've been focusing on just getting settled and getting some of the bureaucratic things done which always is a bit slower here in Europe. With this behind us and Elizabeth schedule more regular, I am hoping to venture out to explore more of the city - especially the innerstadt, flea markets and the many furniture and antique stores (which seem to be everywhere).

I love pinterest. Who doesn't? I stumbled across Jenny Wolf interiors while pinning and I hopped over to look at her portfolio - I am so glad I did. I really like her style. She grew up in the South and credits her style to her Southern roots. Anyway, I like what I saw and thought I'd share.

Along with all the other fun and not so fun things on our list of things we wanted to get done over our week long Christmas vacation we added try new recipes to it at the last minute {the reason it's not on the "official" list}.....

This actually got pushed till the last few days we were home. Mostly because we were exhausted and our kitchen was covered in dust up until the end of the week. What we did manage to try was definitely worth the wait! First up, French Toast. Alton Brown style. Here is the recipe. I do not have a picture of ours... probably because I was to busy scarfing it down. If you haven't gotten it by now we are obsessed with Alton. Talon watches EVERY episode of Good Eats. So far, all of his recipes that we've tried have turned out really good...so he is our current go to for new recipes. We also tried his Sour Cream Cheese Cake.

The picture does not do it justice. So good. Did you guys cook up any new treats over the holidays? That was one of my favorite parts about this past holiday season...trying new recipes...cooking for family and baking sweet treats for friends. Now I miss Christmas. Only 11 more months!

Custom Kitchen Cabinets

So, by now I am sure you get the point that we were on a mission to make our kitchen more functional and organized during our time off. We customized our pantry {more about that here} and customized our kitchen drawers {more about that here}. The next and last item on our agenda was to make an easy to access space for our pots and pans. Up until now they were crammed in to the back of a corner cabinet and you were likely to be injured if you attempted to get one out. After much searching on the Internet we really loved the fancy pull out drawers that a lot of the high end kitchens have. Which got Talon's wheels to spinning and the idea of making our own custom pull out drawers evolved....

This is a bottom cabinet and used to hold unnecessary kitchen items {ex: crock pot - could totally be re-located to a less easier to reach location since we do not use it on a daily basis}. So, it was a prime candidate for the mini-makeover.

This is how Talon said we did it {my portion was all moral support}: We measured the cabinet opening and determined the location of the trays. We then glued and tacked in some support risers for the slides {which we purchased at Home Depot} to be screwed into. We then had to determine the height that the slide needed to be, leveled it, then screwed them in {this had to be done for both sides and both drawers}. Up next it was time to build the drawers themselves. We measured the distance between the slides to determine the drawer width. The MDF that we were using was cut down to the appropriate width. We also had to cut strips that equal the depth that we wanted the drawers to be. Once everything was glued and nailed together all we had to do was mount them on the slides.

This has by far been the greatest thing we have done in our kitchen. It's no longer a fight to get a pot or a pan for cooking. We simply open the cabinet and pull out a drawer. The slides that we used allow the trays to extend all the way out of the cabinet making it even easier to grab things from the back. That wraps up our kitchen organization/customization craziness but we are already brewing other ideas for the future!

but just not 100% with it. We survived the long plane trip (long b/c our kids barely slept) but we, thankfully, made it safely to Wien.

We're suffering from severe jet lag and when I say 'we' I mean the kids; but I am the one telling Luke at 2 AM in the morning that it isn't time to get up yet. I'll be back soon.....

Organize Your Drawers.

Remember yesterday's post where I listed all the things we wanted to do during our time off over Christmas and New Years? One of those things was 'Drawer Organization.' We were referencing our kitchen drawers. Specifically, we had three drawers in mind. Utensil, silverware and one that was empty and providing no function for our kitchen. The utensil and silverware drawers contained plastic trays similar to this....

We've always hated those things. They get dirty and slide all over the drawer. So we removed them and we were left with blank slates...

We quickly customized them to look like this....

Here's a run down on how we (aka Talon) did it. First we purchased 1/2 inch mdf. It's about $26.00 for a 4x8 sheet. We then measured the depths of the drawers and ripped strips out of the plywood on the table saw to that depth. The best part was that we got to customize them however we wanted. For example, length and width for every slot was our decision. Once we decided on the size of each insert we measured them and cut the ripped strips to the desired length. Per Talon, this was extremely easy and I can vouch that it took him less than an hour to complete the inserts.

Here is the utensil drawer with all of our kitchen gadgets placed back in it. What used to feel like a junk drawer feels like an organized and easy to access space. Everything seems to fit so much better and with the built in dividers we are able to use every inch of the drawer. Where with the plastic inserts we were limited.

We didn't stop there. We still needed something to do with that empty drawer that really had no purpose. We decided it would be best utilized if it held all of our cutting knifes. It would also get rid of that gigantic knife block holder. Three cheers for that.

Talon claimed this was a little bit trickier than the others. Here's how he did it. Measured the depth of the drawer and determined the position of the knife block. He then glued several strips of the mdf together to add up to slightly less than the depth of the drawer. Using the miter saw, ripped out slots for the knife blades to rest in. Then, using a piece of scrap, glue on an extra piece to support the knife handles, which keeps the front of the knife from lifting out of the slot. It was all then nailed to the drawer with a nail gun (Tal's Tip: Use the appropriate length nail and only in strategic positions to avoid splitting the mdf (it can be done on 1/2 inch) and/or a blowout).

What do you think? Aren't they so fancy? We've loved all of our custom drawers so far!

Pantry Makeover

Talon and I had 10 full days off of work. It was glorious! Of course, several of those days were filled with Christmas activities but I had a big plans for the others....

Yep,a Christmas vacation 'to do' list. Have I mentioned that I have no idea how to relax? Literally, I can't sit still. If I do, I go straight to sleep. Lucky for me...Tal was on board for the majority of the list. In case you have trouble reading here is a quick run down. 1. Pantry {More about that in a minute} 2. Go to Movies {Had to have fun stuff to look forward to! Plus we never do this because it is SO darn expensive.} 3. Clean Oven {The inside of course. Just one of those things we never get around to doing}. 4. Wash Duvet {Easy task. I love to check things off a list} 5. Organize Attic {Not so easy task but was a great time to do it since we would be putting up Christmas decor} 6. Starbucks Date {So fun} 7. Clothes Shopping {This was for Tal - I have no problem making time to clothes shop for myself:)} 8. Paint Office {More on that later} 9. Stencil Office {More on that later} 10. Fish Scale Art {More on that later} 11. Ping Pong {Nothing better than a little competition to spice the week up} 12. Drawer Organization {Again, more on this later in the week}How's that for a Christmas Vacation? It was SO much fun though. Talon and I love doing projects together...nothing better than quality time spent covered in dust and paint:) So, first on the list was our pantry. Not to long ago we built a custom spice rack for the back of our pantry door. More about that here. It has been so wonderful that we wanted to do some more updates in the ol' pantry. See those ugly wire shelves....

We wanted to get rid of them and that is what we planned on doing. Here is how....First up, removing all of the wire shelves and hardware. We plan to craigslist them to cover some of the cost of the new shelves.

Once done, we were left with lots and lots of holes to deal with.

We used Spackling to patch all of the holes. It's purple when you apply and turns white once ready to be sanded down. Making it very easy to use.

After the holes were patched I gave it a nice coat of paint to pretty it up. Luckily, I was already painting the office (remember that was on our to do list too) and the color was only a hair darker than what our kitchen is so I was able to use that and it blends very nicely! Once all the prep work was done we were ready to tackle the big stuff...the shelves themselves. We purchased and sanded pine plywood ($26, 4x8 sheet), 6ft 1x6 select pine for facing and 3 1x2 select pine for the shelving cleats. Once we found the studs in the pantry we then determined appropriate shelf depth. We then cut the cleats to the appropriate length. Pre-drilled and countersinked the cleats to the pantry wall with 3" drywall screws. The pantry shelves were cut out of the sanded pine plywood to the appropriate depth and width and nailed in place with a nail gun.

We then measured and ripped down 1x6s to the appropriate width for the facing. They were then nailed in place with the nail gun. All seams were caulked and wood filler was used on the joints. Allowed to dry and then it was all sanded....

After a fresh coat of white paint....they were ready to hold all of our daily necessities!

No more falling through the cracks of the wire shelf. We can utilize the entire space and it glorious!

We've been collecting storage containers from IKEA to help organize this space.The labels are hand written so they can be removed and modified easily depending on what is being stored in each piece.

Is it weird that when anyone comes over I want to scream "look how awesome our pantry is!"??? Yep, we love it that much. Between the spice rack and all the added shelf space it's perfect!

Total cost for this pantry makeover (shelves only) was around $50.00 (excluding things we already had like paint, wood filler, nails and the fact that we only had to use 1/2 the sheet of plywood). We think it was well worth the time and money spent since the pantry is something we utilize every single day. Anything to make life a little easier!

Do all women question their sexuality?

In the past week, two guys asked me if I was a lesbian. They did not catch me oogling the breasts of another woman or going down on one, however after talking so freely and openly they wondered if I batted for the other team. By me saying 'I would become a lesbian for her' does not mean I actually would. (Apart from Sofia Vergara and Adriana Lima, I full on would!)

I can safely say that I do not bat for the other team though. Personally, I do love a good penis. But, I can understand why some women would chose to like other women. A woman knows what she wants in life, unlike most men. A woman knows the way she likes to be kissed, to be touched. A lot of the time, we meet men who do not know the 'right way to handle us.'

I personally think there is nothing wrong with admiring someone of the same sex or saying you think someone is attractive. The amount of times girls will look at another girl on TV or a film and admire their looks. How many girls have looked at lingerie shots of Kelly Brook and thought "wow she is hot!?" I know I have. Or Nicole Scherzinger dancing in one of her music videos with rain pouring onto her slim and toned body and thinking naughty things. I can guarentee more than half of the girls reading this will have thought those kind of thoughts.

In a study carried out by Boise State University, they found that out of a group of 484 heterosexual women, 60 per cent were sexually attracted to other women; 45 per cent had kissed a woman and 50 per cent had fantasies about the same sex.
Other data suggests upwards of 20 per cent of women are attracted to other women. It's claimed this could be linked to the natural affection women show towards one another when they socialise, from chatting on the phone for hours to snuggling during chick flicks.

I think that most women are naturally bi-curious when it comes to sex. I won't lie, I have had the odd snog with a female friend, or a touch here and there, reason being wanting to experience new things and explore different parts of your sexuality. So it came to a point where I wondered if it was girls instead of guys that I liked. I would watch porn to see if seeing girls naked was for me. As soon as the guy walked into the scene, I knew I was way more turned on by the hard, pulsating cock gracing my screen than the less than attractive bird fingering herself.

I do also think it is something most women will question at some point in their life.
Take Lindsay Lohan for example. Actress/ popstar/ lesbian/ Non lesbian/ Jailbird etc. She had boyfriends as shown in the media and then one day was linked to Samantha Ronson, a known lesbian. Next thing, Lindsay and Sam are dating. Then. before you know it, her and Sam break up and some guy sells a story that Linds noshed him off and she admits she likes guys. So was it just a phase? Was it an attention thing? Is it something that is always in you and you need to experience it to let it out or realise the truness of it all?
Why did Madonna and Britney feel the need to share a snog on stage for the world to see? Do they both have an inner lesbian waiting to come out or was it just to put on a good show?

Like I said, I realised it wasn't for me after a sesh with a porno, but after new pictures emerged of David Beckhams underwear line for Armani and after making a mess in my knix, it is confirmed for me, M.E.N all the way :)

For my generation it has become something of the norm and not something people need to be ashamed of like it was back in the day for example when my grandmother was a teenager. If you told your parent you were gay, you were sent to a priest to be 'un-gayed.'
Now days, there are support groups, websites, and even places like Gay Pride where you can be the real you and not need to be ashamed.

All I can say is go out, have fun, experience new things, new people and make your own mind up. Only you can do that for yourself, no one else.

2011: A Year in Review

Happy New Year!! 2011 has brought a lot of success in so many ways! Of course the greatest is little E that is now 3 and 1/2 months old. Holiday Home Insurance

Holiday Home Insurance is a type of insurance where you can either insure a property that you rent out to people on short term deals or that you use as a second home, this is obviously a different type of policy to Landlord Insurance as the holiday home would probably not be let out all the time and most probably for a large portion of time the property will be vacant.

There is however similarities between the two policies as Holiday Home Insurance generally will cover things such as:

• Fire, lightning, explosion or earthquake
• Aircraft and other flying devices
• Storm, flood, weight of snow
• Escape of oil from fixed domestic oil-fired heating installations
• Escape of water from fixed water tanks, apparatus or pipes
• Accidental damage to oil pipes, underground supply pipes, sewers, drains and cables
• Theft or attempted theft
• Collision by any vehicle or animal
• Riots, strikes, violent disorder, civil commotion and malicious damage
• Subsidence or heave of the site or landslip
• Falling trees, lamp-posts or telegraph poles

Due to the fact that this policy is mainly designed for times where the property is rented out you will only get full cover (as above) when the property is considered occupied which by the insurers definitions is when the property have been occupied within the last thirty days. If the property has been unoccupied for 30 days then cover is generally restricted and terms will be added, here is the general term that will be put on to unoccupied holiday home insurance:

While the home is not normally lived in or occupied by a holiday tenant

The buildings and contents section of this insurance does not cover;

a) Loss or damage by escape of water from and frost damage to fixed water tanks, apparatus or pipes UNLESS the water is turned off at the mains and all tanks and pipes are drained, OR the central heating system is in continuous operation to maintain a minimum temperature of 60° Fahrenheit/15° Celsius between the 1st of October and the 1st of April inclusive

b) The standard excess of £50 is replaced to the first £250 of every claim other than fire and subsidence, heave and landslip which are as per the certificate wording

c) Escape of Water and Escape of Oil Excess is increased to £1,000

d) Jewellery, furs, gold, silver, gold and silver plated articles

e) You must arrange for both internal & external inspections of the property at least every 30 days and a record log of these visits must be maintained.

However this is still more cover than you would usually be able to get on an unoccupied property and you would only have to let the insurers know when a tenant was next renting the property and you would get the full cover back again. You don't have to only insure the property as a Holiday Home that is going to be rented out you can insure it as it might be rented out or you might use it yourself as a second home.

So if you have a second property that you either rent out as a holiday home or even a property that you use as your second home then by answering just a few questions you will be able to get a quotation to protect the property from any circumstances that you may use the property for.

The african bull dog is a Kenyan Built Off Road 4X4 Vehicle and MPV; This car is built for every day use, it can be used in farms as a produce cart, or even as an ambulance at Marsabit desert to provide emergency care to the forgotten communities and as a truck to ferry drugs to those remote places that you have never heard of!; With ample backing, the African Bulldog can do for Kenya what the Citroen 2CV did for France and the V.W Beetle for Germany!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year isn’t it? Putting the star on top of the tree, eating mince pies and hoping that Santa sees past enough of all the naughty things you’ve done this year to put you on his prezzie list. There are kisses under the mistletoe and on top of the kitchen table, lazy public holiday lay ins and of course catch up Martini nights where us girls get together to misbehave and swap bedroom secrets…

As our glasses chink together and we down what’s left of our cosmopolitans I cant help but giggle to myself and wonder, does the bulge make the man?

When I was 15 my best friend and I found ourselves making out with two skateboarding super hotties we’d chatted up. I knew it was time to take the plunge… my hand fumbled past the awkward button/zipper roadblock and hesitantly gripped. I’ve had some good surprises, some not so good and some very unexpected treats. These do not always coincide with the overall result, as I’m sure all of us will agree that a big package does not necessarily a good Christmas make. In fact if I think back to my top 3 Man Muscles I cant remember any one of them making me Joyful and Triumphant.

The first belonged to a guy who wouldn’t stop talking dirty to me. I’m all for spicing it up but not on date 1(If you can even call it that) and most certainly not dead sober. I don’t know how I ended up sharing a bed with Russell and his ginormous love muscle, when you are 19 you tend to skip the preproduction for these things and I guess they just happen. All I could think was thank God the lights are off so he cant see the look on my face as he explains how he would like to “cum inside me and fuck me raw”. It was probably a similar face to one you would pull after taking a sip of milk 5 days after the sell by date. One eye closed, nose crinkled up slightly grimaced and 11 out of 10 on the uncomfortable scale. There’s no way this guy is getting inside me. I dodged the window of possible penetration thinking I could end it all with a quick BJ if only my mouth could accommodate his meat thermometer. Both of us went to sleep completely unsatisfied and a little embarrassed.

Then there was the owner of what I can only describe as the Giant Meatloaf who revealed himself to me as we began to make out in the street by my car. I can remember thinking, what is it with guys and their big dicks, do they think just because they are well endowed that they can whip it out at anytime and our panties will automatically drop and turn into a symbolic welcome matt saying “Please Enter Me Immediately”? What happened to romance, to chivalry, to base 2, 3 and 4? Insulted by his sense of entitlement I kissed him on the cheek and left him standing pants round him ankles in 4th avenue alone.

Even when you do everything right, not all Purple-Headed Soldiers make it into battle. I had a whirlwind romance with Gerd. Unlike the other 2 Bolony Pony owners, there were some feelings involved. We sparked. We had chemistry. We were out of town and away from all responsibility with a group of friends on a farm. Away from my boyfriend too. Nothing like a bit of nature and fresh air to make you sing: “Oh Come all Yeah UnFaithful!”. It was wrong in every way making our secret love affair even hotter. We were sharing a room with people and so had to keep everything super quiet… whispering to each other in the dark under the sheets after I’d quietly snuck into the bed with him. I felt him press up against me and suddenly realized what I was up against. A Monster. We tried for hours to get in sync but put plain and simply… he was just too big. I bit down on the pillow after attempt 12 and realized that my tight little tigress was never going to be able to play host to such a force of nature. It was as if I’d unwrapped a box with a beautiful pair of shoes inside… 2 sizes too small. Returns not accepted.

And then I think back to some of the best sex I’ve ever had… most of which happened with owners of probably very average Impalers. I can’t remember… It was so good, I guess I wasn’t focused on how big they were just on how good they felt and how well they were operated. In my opinion a man who knows how to take command of the Anaconda can very well trump a guy with a Savage Salami in bed. I’m not completely un-superficial… I’ve had my fair share of these moments:

Carly: “Ok, I’m ready… I want you inside me!”
Under average Joe: “Um… I am. I have been for the last 15 minutes. I thought you came already?”
Carly: “Oh. Um… yeah, I was just role playing you know… lets carry on.”

Cue Sour Milk face followed by a major Fake.

A situation probably easily forgiven had I been eaten out as if I were a festive dessert and sent into xmas ecstasy instead of being pummeled inconsiderately like a jack hammer with a tool that seemed to be Christmas cracker gift size. Just saying.

So… what do women want in their stockings this year? I’ll tell you.

We want time… everywhere. We want generous foreplay. We want long expeditions to the South Pole. We want excitement. We want to feel powerless and powerful all at the same time. We want to feel beautiful and be looked at like the goddesses we are. We want bragging rights so that at the next Martini party we can tell everyone how our boyfriend makes the Karma Sutra look like a children’s bedtime story. We want candles, mood music and rose petals sometimes and sometimes we want our hair pulled and our panties ripped off. Most importantly we want a man who knows who he is and knows who we are enough to confidently play on that thin line between almost bliss and endless rapture. A man who knows his Candy Cane is but one Christmas charm amongst a tree of trinkets and tricks. After all it’s not the gift, but the thought that counts.

Glass Lamp

Getting so close to Christmas I can hardly stand it!! So excited for all of the festivities. However, there's still a day of work left. Let's make that go faster by looking at our updated lamp....

That's what it looked like when my mom and I picked it up at a yard sale a few months back. I've seen this glass lamp style everywhere over the past few months.

Although this one wasn't exactly a looker at first I had high hopes that we could dress it up with a can of spray paint.

I was able to pull the whole thing apart (kinda) via a bolt on the bottom.

I cleaned it up really good and taped off the important stuff so that spray paint would not touch it.

1 can of Oil Rubbed Bronze later....

It didn't turn out to shabby at all and I have to admit I had my doubts.

I picked up the lamp shade at Target. I think it's a tad small for the lamp but it will do for now.

I love that I could potentially fill that glass lamp base with whatever I wanted. For instance, Christmas decor! Why am I only thinking of this two days before Christmas?

What do you think? Any comparison to those with the high price tags?

Merry Mini Christmas

We had a very mini Christmas at our house this past weekend. My brother, Grayson, will be spending Christmas in Colorado this year...so we had an early Christmas celebration for him at our house.

It was lots of fun with lots of yummy food. See that cake...its Alton Brown's Red Velvet cake recipe...so delish. Those are Chocolate Crackle Cookies in the back. I found the recipe here. They were also yummy and made excellent Christmas gifts for the neighbors.

All of this baking was made possible by our new favorite toy....Merry Christmas to us:) Thanks Dad!!

Along with the food there was excellent wine...

And a goodie box of treats for our guest....

These two were the center of attention the entire night....

The lab is our nephew, River. Tillie is not so sure what to think of her much younger but way bigger cousin.

For the most part you could tell she wasn't happy with any other furry animals in our house. This is her hiding behind my Mom...avoiding River like the plague. At times though she did warm up...

I hope everyone is enjoying all of the fun Christmas gatherings going on this time of year! We loved having our family over to celebrate!

December Activities

A short post to let you know what we have been up to in December...it's been busy but probably the least stressful holiday season we've ever had. We've enjoyed every minute of it...I think because we finished our shopping in November. Reminder to self...do that every year. Here we are at Talon's office Christmas party...

We've baked SO many delicious goodies this year. This specific day I was baking red and white sugar cookie pinwheels. From the recipe I found here. They are definitely not as hard as they look...just a little time consuming.

We celebrated this big guy turning one...so fun to watch him grow:)

We've also made several attempts to drag Tils along for the ride where in the end every single time we decide it's best that she stays at home. This is her seating on the console in between the drivers and passenger side seat because she is insane in the car...

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season as much as we are!

The Smell of Christmas

We are full force Christmas at our house. Lots of baking and Christmasy things going on. However, our artificial tree wasn't bursting with the smell of Christmas. And since we weren't ready to pop $200 dollars on a live one since our current artificial one was free from my parents as a hand me down I had to come up with a different approach. While driving to church this past Sunday we passed a place selling Christmas trees and I wondered what they did with all those branches that fall off the trees (ya know while people load them on to their cars and such). Well, turns out they just put them in a big bucket. And they will let you have them for FREE. So, we loaded up the back of the car with Christmas tree branches and brought those bad boys home...

And I stuck them in mason jars on our table and a pretty wooden box we scored at a yard sale a few months back....

I simply trimmed the branches to a shorter length and arranged them like you would flowers. Easy Peezy. Definitely one of my favorite Christmas decorations this year....

I have always been the kind of girl who has never enjoyed dating guys my own age.
When I was 16 I went out with a guy who was 23. When I was 19 I was dating a 17 year old (and taking his virginity). Now at the age of 23 I wonder if I am supposed to be looking for the older guy to settle with, or the younger guy to have fun with.

I have always found that guys my own age are very immature. Well, they do say the male brain is three years behind the female. So that means a guy my age really acts like a 20 year old. So if I start dating a 20 year old, really he has the brain of a 17 year old? What I have noticed is that younger guys will always try harder to be at your maturity level, mainly to impress you.

More women than ever before are looking outside of their own age group to find love, and according to the Office for National Statistics, it’s mostly cougars on the prowl. Celebs are doing it too: Halle Berry, Madonna and Demi Moore have all tried younger men, while women like Catherine Zeta Jones and Katie Holmes got hitched to older guys. Dating out of your age bracket can work to your advantage but will also have the disadvantages. Look at Caroline Flack. She is 32 years old and has just started dating Harry Styles from One Direction who is only 17 years old. Like I said earlier, I am a girl who will date younger guys but come on.. that is just wrong. She had nearly finished high school when he was born. From what I have seen, she has been getting lots of hate mail and I am not suprised. (most probably frome me cos he is MY man and she needs to plank on a knife!!) Demi Moore, 49, married Ashton Kutcher 32 a few years back. Now they are on the brink of a divorce due to cheating rumours on Ashton's behalf.

So, can dating a younger guy lead to disaster? Will they get bored and cheat? Or do some of these 'cougars' do it due to boredm? Do they think dating a younger guy will keep them on their toes? Lets be honest, women age very gracefully so it is easy to bag a younger guy but you need to be sure of what you want before you get too involved. If casual is more you thing then go for it, but if you are looking for something more long term, make sure he is aware of that.

I guess some women will go for the 'toyboy' if they just cannot deal with the 'baggage' that may come with an older man EG divorce, an ex wife, divorce etc.

Once a man hits around 35, he’s usually got a good idea of what he’s good at and what he’s not. So he is less likely to be changeable in terms of his career, the way he behaves, but it also makes him less fickle when it comes to love. He has been there, done it and probably got more notches on his bed post than you. Well, some of you! You will probably have more security when it comes to the older guy.

“The advantage of a man who’s been around the block is that he’s learned from his exes,” says Dr Pam. “Every relationship, every break-up has a lesson in it.” And there’s the physical knowledge too. “Men who have been in long-term relationships learn a lot about women’s bodies,” Ok so thats good. Date an older guy and maybe he will actually be able to find my G-spot and not think its a watch when I ask him to look for it - (this is what happened with the 17 year old back in the day!!)

Year Two.

Tal and I are celebrating 2 years of marriage today:) Well, we've been celebrating all weekend but today is the official day of matrimony. We decided that the best way for us to celebrate would be to do something together. So on Saturday we headed to Atlanta for a day trip. We had so much fun just hanging out together all day...

In true Woods family form...we made a stop at IKEA while we were there...

Where we loaded up on lots of goodies for the hizzy...

It was a day of celebration which was an obvious excuse to eat terribly unhealthy food and drink lots of Starbucks....

Cane Chair

This past weekend I finally got around to updating the cane chair I scored at a yard sale a month or so back. Remember...I talked about it here and here. Here's the before shot...

I decided that tearing down the fabric since it had all those tacks would be more work than I wanted to put in to it. So I did the lazy thing and just went straight to the spray paint....

It took several coats of the Krylon Dual Paint and Primer in One to get this bad boy to go white.

Then I ran out to JoAnns and bought discount fabric that semi-matched my living room and started re-covering the seat. I was about half way finished when I realized tearing off the old fabric to use as a pattern would have been about six bajillion times easier. Live and Learn.

I'm loving the newest addition that also provides additional seating. Gotta love functional pieces.

Not bad for $12.00....

I even made a fun pillow with the leftover fabric. Which almost ended in me throwing my sewing machine out the window. Literally. Why is it every time I break that thing out I want to slam it in the wall??

We have a fun weekend planned...so happy it's Friday!

Easy Wreath

My Mom had this wreath in her goodwill pile this past weekend. I've been wanting a wreath for our back porch for a while now...so I snatched it in hopes that I could make it come to life....

In the midst of spraying a dozen other things white over the weekend this wreath got caught up in the paint. It was surprisingly really easy to spray. Only took about two coats on each side and she was done.

I tried to get creative and think of something fun for Christmas I could do with it...like add ornaments or Christmas ribbon. So far, all I've come up with is this burlap ribbon. I made it from burlap I bought at Lowe's. Did you know that you can buy burlap at Lowe's? Well you can. It's in the garden section. It comes in a roll and is great because it has edges that are seamed together - which is great for projects like this.

At least with just simple burlap I can keep it up after Christmas...here's to a very easy project!

Countdown is on...

and I'm not talking about Christmas (although that is around the corner too). We'll be in Vienna in less than a month and I can hardly contain my excitement! And, while it has been hard saying good-bye to our friends, I know we'll be back next fall so it's really not that long.

I am certainly bummed though that we will be missing out of one of Europe's greatest traditions - the Christmas Market. We will be arriving right at the New Year so it'll be over, but the thought of a fabled Christmas market where you can exchange chain stores for cozy wooden chalets, Christmas music for angelic choirs and consumer frenzy for down to earth local holiday cheer makes me sad. Just a different experience that I would love for my son to see.

In the meantime, I'm in a mad rush to finish Christmas shopping...thank God for online stores!

Door = Mirror

Doors are kind of every where right now. Bloggers/Crafters are making everything out of them. We have been on the band wagon for a while ourselves. Pre-blog we made a headboard for our guest bedroom that is still one of my favorite pieces in our home. The second experiment started off as a possible farm table for our dining room. We were so indecisive on what we wanted we moved on to creating something we actually needed with it. A mirror for our master bedroom. We were using one of those hang over the door mirrors from college. Needless to say that thing is already at the goodwill. Very happy to see it go. Lucky for us my Dad seems to have a never ending supply of doors. We went through and picked out one that would be a good size and that also had a single insert instead of multiple panels. See below....

Talon removed the trim from the outside of the insert of the door. We wanted the mirror to sit flush inside the door panel. I didn't want the fact that it was an old door to be completely obvious. You.know...stay away from being to terribly trendy. Once the trim was removed Talon took measurements and ordered our mirror.

The way our mirror was inserted into the door it did not need to be thick. Therefore, it only cost us $25.00 for our piece of glass (that's total - for the glass and having them cut it).

We carefully placed the glass on the door to ensure it was going to fit as we wanted...

Once done we debated whether or not to add trim around the frame. We decided against it. We both didn't think it was necessary.

After cleaning it really well we used mirror adhesive to glue the mirror to our door.

We moved it straight in to our bedroom. Talon used tape to make sure it wasn't going anywhere. 2 days later and it's still in tact.

Here is the final product....

I must admit that it came out about a thousand times better than I ever thought it would. I think it's the perfect mix of unique and functional.

I especially love that we were able to ditch our old college over the door mirror.

Yah for a 25.00 full body mirror. Those things are expensive to purchase! Happy Monday everyone!

I updated our front door with some Christmas goodness. I made these wreaths last year using this tutorial. They were really easy to make and are very easy to update from year to year.

I did just that this year. I added a little more silvery bling to each of them. I'm debating the addition of some fun blue ornaments...just to get crazy with it:)

I'm In Love With A Stripper..

Ok, so no i'm not really in love with a stripper. But i'm not going to lie, I do kind of love the thought of it all.

You see, last night, myself and some friends went to a strip club. I have always wanted to go to one to know what actually goes on behind closed doors and see what they are really like and not just how I see them on films.

This was my first time in a strip club in London and I was actually quite excited. You see, the only other time I have been to a strip club was in Amsterdam a year ago. The place was vile. Not only was it cold and gloomy but the girls were already naked and happy to put their vagina in your face. LITERALLY. We had bought a dance for one of the boys and the girl giving him the dance actually put his nose into her asshole. Hole. Yes. ASSHOLE! That to me was really gross and degrading for them, then again, it was Amsterdam and I should have expected that we were going to be knee deep in clunge. Wellie boots please!!

So in we walked. The interior was very nice. Quite welcoming to be honest. Was not gloomy and dirty but in fact quite smart and classy. The first thing to catch my eye were swings at the bar. How fun is that!! The second thing I noticed was the fact half of the girls in this place were UGLY! When you see a strip club in a film, all the girls are beautiful with nice breasts and mysterious eyes. Not here. Most of the ladies were Eastern European and not that good looking with bad hair extensions and an even worse attitude.

So down Max, Anna and I sit and straight away girls are looking at us. At first I am not sure if it is Max's muscly arms that caught their attention, or the fact that he was there with Anna and I. Bit odd for a guy to go to a strip club with two girls I guess. Then again, Anna and I are not your average kind of girls. So first round of drinks come anf our first stripper comes and sits down with us. After a while she can tell we are not interested and walks off to a group of Asian guys. So the three of us are sitting there having a laugh, catching up and watching girls dance on a pole. One of the girls dancing caught my eye for having massive tattoos down the right side of her body, but also for knowing how to dance on that pole. Let me tell you, girl could dance.

I looked around the club to see the kind of people inside. On one table there was a group of white guys in suits. Business meeting maybe? Not sure but they were soon enough joined by some girls. On another table is a group of Asian guys. Also in suits. After work fun clearly! Then I see an old guy sitting on his own. Girls keep going to say hi and kissing him hello. Obviously he is a regular and knows them all well. Part of me wondered why a guy clearly in his mid 60's was spending his nights in a strip club? Boredm? Lonliness?

So after some food and more drinks, down sits *FiFi. At first I had actually said that she was odd looking and Russian where in fact she was pretty decent and English. Our conversation included our love of games such as Tetris and Solitaire and how her boyfriend does not know she does this job. Fifi was telling me how she has danced her whole life including Burlesque dance. Before working in a strip club too, she had an office job but after spending most of her day playing solitaire, she knew it was not for her. She was really lovely and nice to talk to. They pay the club to basically rent space lets call it. That is about 80 pounds a night. Once they have covered that, everything else is theirs. They can make anything from 100 - 1000 pounds a night. Each dance they give is done in a private area away form your table at 20 pounds a dance. You are not allowed to touch the girls. Security is very tight and people are always looking to make sure things are all good. People will also buy the girls drinks so it is often that they are getting drunk.
Getting drunk on the job and making maybe 500 pounds a night. Why am I not doing this? Haha!

About half an hour after talking to the girls, our friend Adam came to join us. More drinks were being bought. So it was the four of us and 5 of the strippers sat at our table. The ones that were not sat at our table were obviously very jelous as we were drinking, laughing and having a great time. The four of us then went to sit in a private area with four of the girls and we were all given a dance. Now I am the kind of girl who is up for anything. Ok, not anything, but most things. Seeing girls naked is not something new for me. I am naked with my girls all the time. To be honest, I actually did not know where to look. Four girls, four vajayjays and eight boobs. Max had a dance with FiFi, I had Sunshine, Anna had Cat and Adam had Melody. Melody was actually really pretty with great breasts and I kept looking over at her. In one sense, I think for guys its all just a bit of a prick tease. They get a dance, get a boner and cannot do anything about it. Is there point wasting your money on that? Why not I say. All for some fun and something different.

As girls, I can fairly say that Anna and I enjoyed ourselves. New experience and all. I would deffinately go back. Not because I am into the girls but at the end of the day it is actually nice to hang out and drink there and also nice to talk to the girls. Christmas Card Display

This year I wanted something pretty to hang all those Christmas cards that come in the mail. Luckily, not to long ago my Dad gave me an old frame. I painted it white and it had been leaning up against a wall on a dresser for a while. I kind of new it would get it's real makeover when Christmas came around. I started by nailing 4 rows of nails equally across from each other down both sides of the frame. In the beginning I tied the string in straight lines across the frame. The twine wasn't strong enough to display cards and not droop down to far....

So, I went to plan b. Which was connecting the twine in a criss cross pattern across the frame. This was so much easier and looked a 100 times better.

Once I was done...I thought it needed a little extra something....bring on the big bulbs...

I'm using clothes pins to hold the cards on the twin and lights....

Such a fun way to display cards from those that we love this Christmas season:)

This has gotten me so pumped for other holiday crafts! It's officially December...Merry Christmas everyone!

A Texas Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving in Texas visiting my sister and her wonderful family. It was a long 12 hour ride but went by pretty quickly when you have a back seat set up like this (and do not have to drive).

Once we got there we were greeted with a delicious meal to celebrate Thanksgiving! Probably the best turkey ever...

Along with lots and lots of sides...

And lots and lots of yummy wine....

The next day was filled with Black Friday shopping. No time for pictures...to busy scoring awesome deals:) We recovered on Saturday with football and more food...

Tal was the lone Alabamer fan. War Eagle!!

It was a great mini-vacay but we couldn't wait to get back and rescue this little pooch from puppy prison (aka the kennel). She was exhausted from her adventure....

I hope every one's Thanksgiving was filled with lots of food and fun!

Randombecause I don't have any idea what to say, and with that, it will obviouslylead me to different things, no single topic just letting my mind flow as Itype on the keyboard of my laptop. Basically, I'm just bored, so let's seewhere this boredom would take me.

Okay, why don't Ijust arrange my things; I've been wanting to do that since last week, only thatI'm too lazy. want to know why? It is because I don't know where to start, andI'm too lazy to think about it.

Let me open my fb,and see what's new to the people I know, so 3 days ago was my cousin's firstbirthday, and the pictures clearly tell that they really had fun. She isn’tjust an ordinary baby but a precious one. In fact, her nickname is Precious.It's a long story but believe me, She made everyone really happy. My daughterjust loves her.

So lately, I’ve been struggling with my new eating disorder. Yes,I consider it as a disorder. Actually it’s not new, because I have this sincetime immemorial only that this time it’s becoming worse. The more I want to controlmy diet and not to think about food, the more I want to eat. Does anyone relateto that? Seriously, in my whole life I never tried any kind of diet. I hope Icould start by eating healthy foods. I don’t eat vegetables. I always eat junkfoods. See how unhealthy kind of person I am? Tsk. Tsk.

My daughter is presently complaining about her neck, and I am nowworried. I am the kind of mommy who wants to have my kids checked by a doctoras soon as possible. So I would definitely schedule her for a check-up tomorrow.For now, I'll call and ask my uncle who is a doctor. It’s always nice tohave a doctor in the family. I am always grateful to him. I remember when I wasa kid I wanted to be a doctor, A dermatologist to be specific. Only I realizedthat I can’t handle all those bloods, sickness, wounds, and etc. It scaresthe hell out of me.

So I guess, This has to stop, because I have a pretty lovely daughter to attend to. I hope she'll be fine. In Shaa Allah.

I know that yesterday I said I was ready to move on to Thanksgiving. Ya know, since it is the closer holiday and all? But one more thing before that. Our office...all decked out with Christmas bling....I bought this star last year at Lowe's after Christmas for pennies. I've made a promise to myself to only buy Christmas decor in the weeks after Christmas. It's ridiculously inexpensive then.Lots of silver tidings for this one little tree...Including disco balls...every tree needs a disco ball.And a bowl full of bling for the other side to even all that blingeness out.

SO excited for the holidays this year. We do not have many plans in December and I think that adds to the excitement. Just hanging out together by the Christmas tree is all I can think about:) Especially, now that I have knocked Christmas cards off the list. These things stress me out! There are SO many cute ones out there to choose from...The thought of so many people getting your photo on the card you chose....it stresses me to no end. I'm so weird. I've been browsing Shutterfly for two weeks in search of the perfect card. I've chosen to use Shutterfly because they seem to be the most reasonable in price. Especially after you use a couple of the million discount codes they send you. This is ours from 2010. It was also ordered from Shutterfly. We got so many compliments on the quality of it. So I did not hesitate to use them again.
I can't wait to start getting cards from everyone in the mail! If they just weren't so hard to pick out...

Small Prizes

I hope everyone had a fab weekend. Ours was pretty busy with family and such. I did a lot of cleaning to get ready for Christmas decorations next weekend --- CANNOT WAIT. We celebrated a family birthday on Sunday. I threw together a tiny gift for the birthday girl before we visited. I made a fresh batch of cookies {using the Nestle Toll House recipe on the back of the package} and bundled them in this adorable box....It's a generic gift box. I buy them in large quantities after Christmas every year for super cheap. I added a card with the Happy Birthday message and tied it all together with twine. Simple and sweet.
This would make the perfect gift this Christmas for co-workers and neighbors. So easy and inexpensive!

A Splash of Pink

I'm not sure it is because I have a little girl, but I'm falling head over heels for interiors with a splash of pink. At first, I was convinced a pink sofa would be the right amount of pink to make me super happy!

But, after living with a pink sofa in our rental, I can tell you it is not ideal with little kids. It takes only seconds for my son to finish his lunch and then go dive on the pink sofa with his greasy hands. Hello stains! So, I'm reconsidering a pink sofa (unless it is in our master bedroom, but I need to convince my husband of that!) and am now thinking of injecting a splash pink in other ways.

I like NYX round lipstick, not only because it's cheap, but also it's very pigmented and that it gives you a creamy not too glossy finish. I love the shade B52 because it appears to be nude or neutral which is great for everyday use. NYX round lipsticks have 144 shades to choose from, so I would definitely buy more. :)

Healthy Eating

We've been on quite the health kick at the Woods hizzy. I should rephrase that - I have been on quite the health kick. Talon was dragged in to it very unwillingly. Luckily, he has been uber supportive and isn't very picky when it comes to food. However, I may have jumped the gun by attempting to make this...I engulfed three pieces. Talon could barely stomach a bite. Maybe I was so pumped that it wasn't fish or chicken which is all we have been eating. That was my first attempt to venture out since our health adventure began. The pizza was a no go but on Wednesday we whipped up some Gnocchi that we both agreed was yummy. The greatest thing in the world...no. Better than fish and chicken...absolutely. Last night we were suppose to go out to dinner and our plans didn't work out. I made Talon waffles...which he was uber happy about. And I preceded to eat this...it looked so much better when I pinned it on pinterest {here}. I ended up scrapping off the tomatoes and basically eating low fat mozzarella cheese toast for dinner. Yum.On the menu for next week..... Buffalo Chicken Rolls. Only 103 calories a piece. Can't wait to try them. Obviously, I am in desperate need of good healthy meal ideas. Anybody got any good blogs or websites?

Out Of Town

Over the weekend, the three of us loaded up the car and headed to Auburn. We had a wedding and a very special birthday to celebrate. Tillie has to sit in my floor board when we take my car. You can imagine how much she loves that. I think the excitement of leaving the house out weighed the fact that she was slightly cramped:)We got to see Tillie's very best canine friend, SPENCER! We had a small tragedy moments after arriving. Our friend, Matt, took a tumble down a set of stairs leaving him with this beauty on the side of his ankle. He is still walking on crutches today. No bueno. We spruced up and headed to the wedding....Myself and the beautiful bride. We visited and ate at the reception...and then in a mad rush not to miss kick off of a very important game {Bama vs LSU} sprinted back to our place of residence for the weekend.After the game was over....we let Kari blow out her 26 birthday candles!
It was a great weekend celebrating lots of special people. Happy Birthday Kari!!

Long Overdue Update

Sorry for the extended absence. In fact, I've been reading your blogs between feedings, changing and walking Elizabeth, but I haven't had much time to put my thoughts together and write. Speaking of Elizabeth, she is a little colicky, but we seemed to have turned a corner. Luke is also well but ~~a bit~~ a lot more needy than he was before her arrival.

While all of this has been going on we packed and moved out of our house, put our stuff in storage and moved into a temporary rental (more on that in a minute). We also closed on our house. So, we're officially homeless. Leaving our house was harder than I anticipated - our first home together and Luke's first home made it really hard to say good-bye.

Ok. So, now for our new, temporary home. We're staying in a 1400 square foot home on the CT shore. It's bright and sunny home and we're really happy here. And we're literally across the street from the Long Island Sound, with water views from our windows. If this was summer, we could never afford this!

It's a cute cedar clapboard house with a nice stone patio which we've used for lunches. The kitchen isn't huge, but it's open clean and bright.

And, it's open to the living room, below.

There are two first floor bedrooms (ours and Elizabeth's) and Luke gets the entire upstairs to himself! It's his own secret hideout and he loves it.

Other than the occasional jaunts to the beach and napping whenever I can, that 's what has been going on here.

I'm hoping as we settle into more of a routine that I can get back to posting more frequently.

This post is to inspire me. It's selfish Friday I suppose. I purchased a cane chair two weeks ago at a yard sale {read about that here}. Now I just need to figure out what the heck to do with it. Love the fabric and the fact that it is painted white.This one is similar to mine in that it does not have fabric or backing on the back of the chair. Therefore, I will only have to recover the seat. That should be pretty easy.Mandy at Vintage Revivals re-did this one and I overall just love how fun it is. Not sure this is the look I am going for with mine though. This one is so fun and retro. Again, love the crisp white.

Meet our nephew, Creed. He turned 8 over the weekend. Talon and I started dating when Creed was ONE. So hard to believe. We celebrated his big day with a birthday party at a park where we had a pick up baseball game. Grandparents included. His little buddies came to help him celebrate. They were all excelent baseball players.Uncle Tal was the first baseman for the birthday boy.Creed was showered with lots of prizes.Including a new BIKE. Everyone was jealous of his new ride.
It was a great day filled with lots of family and love. Happy 8th Birthday Sweet Creed! We love you SO much!!

I'm a day late but I hope everyone had a very Happy Halloween! This was the first year that we were home long enough to give out candy...it was a blast. Halloween makes me want to move to a huge kid filled neighborhood where everyone (including myself, Talon and Tillie) would dress in awesome costumes to give out candy and yards are decorated to the nines (you know just like TV!). Unfortunately, most of the kiddos in our neighborhood are tiny babies...so we didn't have to many trick or treaters but the ones we did have were precious. Our sweet nephews were first.... Don't they look crazy creepy?? These guys didn't get to trick or treat us because of a few hundred miles in between us (they live in Texas) but my sister sent me this picture of our sweet nephew and niece before they loaded up on candy....Makes me miss them terribly! While Tal and I were handing out the goods Tillie was rebelling in our bedroom {we made her stay in our bedroom for the night out of fear she would lick one of the kiddos to death}. Here she is hanging out on our dresser....what the heck she was doing up there I have no idea. I guess she was pissed she didn't get to partake in the festivities.
Sad that Halloween is over but I guess it is on to Thanksgiving and Christmas!

So a friend of mine and I were talking about sex (as you do on a Friday afternoon) and then came on to the subject of Blow jobs! As soon as I mentioned the word she sighed! I asked why she did that. Have I ever been to Portugal? No. Do I want to go to Portugal? Yes and No. I would like to travel anywhere but I cannot say that Portugal is number one on my list. Did I need to buy a Portugal map print at the yard sale last Saturday? OF COURSE.I think I paid 10 or so dollars for this. Probably a little much for a framed print of Portugal but I've got a thing for map and ship photos. I need to get a grip. But since I did make the purchase I thought I would spruce it up a bit with some spray paint. First, I taped off the edges of the frame since it did not appear to be an easy task to pop out the print and mat from the back. Then I taped card stock paper over the rest of the frame to avoid any over spray and extra scrubbing in the end....Portugal now lives in our kitchen....so I can wonder why I purchased a print of Portugal every time I walk in to this room....It still amazes me what a coat of white spray paint can do to anything....I just recently updated another art print here. It's nice to see walls in our house get a little love. We have been in this house for almost two years and still have many bare walls. I like to hold out and wait though...not throw stuff up there. I'm hoping it pays off in the long run...not swapping things out every couple of months. And in this case...so what if I do. It's just a spray painted frame with a Portugal print in it:)
So, here's to random yard sale purchases!

This project is so appropriate for October - Breast Cancer Awareness. Whoop Whoop. As I mentioned in Monday's post I scored a few gems yard sale'n last weekend. This pink beauty was one of them....They had an $85 dollar price tag on this. Little steep for a yard sale. I offered him $20 and he took it. {Yard Sale Lesson #1: It never hurts to ask!} I was kind of shocked but very excited to get to bring such a pretty pink table home. I carried it outside and gave it a light sanding so that my paint would stick better...Two coats of white paint and it is as good as new.... It actually took forever to paint because of all the details and such but definitely worth all of the time spent. Now I just need a place to put this used to be pink now white table....
Moral of the story....GO PINK.

Hey dolls,

Hope you are all good. Thought I would take a brief step away from my usual blogs (don't worry, you'll get the naughtiness back soon) and write about my recent outings to some gigs!

So lets start with last Thursday where I went with my good friend Dominique to the Jack Savoretti gig at the Garage in Highbury/Islington. I have loved Jack's music since I was introduced to it by my friend Scott a few years ago. Since then, I have been a big fan. The gig started at 7pm and we arrived at about 8.30pm where we were just in time for the second supporting act called "We were Evergreen."
Now let me just tell you, when I see a band with a xylophone I get a bit worried but on came this Parisian trio and completely wowed me. With their Indie/pop/folk style, the crowd became really hyped up. They had some really good songs including Vintage Car and Penguins & Moonboats. I was not impressed with the song about Eggs!

They finish and on comes Jack Savoretti and his band. A woman standing in front of me and Dom was jumping and screaming. She must have been in her mid 40's but only now was living her failed life as a groupie. She is clearly his number one fan. She kept dancing to the songs which to be honest, are pretty hard to dance to, a simple bop or shake will suffice. When the slower songs came on, she put her hands together as if she was praying and would close her eyes. I hope she knows she was at a gig and not in church. Her friend also cried at one of the slower songs. Is it mean that Dom and I laughed? Well, come on. Two ladies in their 40s getting overly excited about a singer and crying? I can't even say grow up!
I was suprised to see a double bass up on stage (as it is rare) but Tom (dude on the double bass) rocked it! If any of you have ever seen a picture or watched a video of Jack, you will know he is very good looking. Seeing him up on stage with his guitar and singing live brought a whole new love to my life. I will keep this blog PG. Anyway, after a few new songs, Jack sang "Dreamers" which is my ultimate favourite. I took a lot of pictures and videos (which are all on my facebook for those of you who have me). When the show finished, Dom and I waited around as Jack's manager Danielle was going to introduce us to Jack. So ten minutes after he has come off stage, he comes into the hall and Danielle brings him over to me and Dom and gives us a personal introduction. My knees went to jello! I had a picture taken with Jack and honestly, I felt like a kid. I have met a lot of celebrities in my time and do not get star struck (unless they are really big) and Jack is not a celebrity, but just the fact he sings like an angel, plays the guitar like a rock star and is beyond hot got me worke up. Once again, keeping this PG.

Saturday arrives and out I pop from the shower at about 6pm when I get a phone call from my good friend Ben. "Have you got plans tonight LaLa?"
"Umm yes Ben, why?"
"Well I have two tickets for the Ed Sheeran gig tonight, do you want to go?"
"OK!"

I love me a bit of spontaneity. So my plans got changed and 45 minutes later, Ben was outside my house in a cab to pick me up. Now, as a woman, it takes me at least over an hour to get ready for a night out. I was given 45 mins!! So out I went to the cab with a face half done with make up and a packed dinner from mummy as I had not eaten since breakfast. Bless her. To those of you who know my mother, you know she is a feeder. Even if you are not hungry and in my house, you will be given food. So on route to the gig and Ben and I already start having a giggle about a few funny stories. I finish my packed dinner, finish my make up and we arrive at the venue. Before we went into the show, we go to meet our friends Pippa and Chloe at a pub down the road where the drinking begins. How my mother is a feeder, Ben is like that with alcohol. He will get the drinks in and make sure you get legless. Good ol Benny boy! We finish our drinks and the four of us head over to the HMV forum in Kentish town for the Ed Sheeran gig. Or Ed SheeRAN (sounds like Duran) as Ben would say. He got corrected many a time over the night.
So in we head through the crowd and make our way to a nice spacious spot where we can see the stage. As we arrive, Emeli Sande was performing. Wow she is amazing live. She sang a few ballads and then sang her new song "Heaven" which was awesome.
On came Ed and everyone started screaming. Who knew a 21 year old ginger boy could be so popular! To be fair, half the venue were about his age and probably his high school buds.
So there we are enjoying his music and having a dance when all of a sudden, a girl who Pippa referred to as a 'witch' screamed out loud "Can you not touch my bum you are disgusting" to a few boys standing behind her. These boys became our besties of the night. I did not think it was them who pinched her bum but the Peter Griffin look alike that PVP had a crush on who by the way knew every word to every song Ed sang!
So we continue to enjoy the music and our alcohol and dancing when an oldish man standing near Ben starts having a go at him for dancing. Sorry, I did not know that it was illegal to dance at a gig. So there they are having a domestic when Witch Bitch gets involved and shouts, again, telling them both to shut up. This was very funny yet I did give her ly dagger eyes and she did not look in my direction again. I came to the conclusion of why this girl was very angry in life..
1) She was on her period
2) She had not been laid for 6 months or more so was a bit aggy
3) Ed Sheeran would not touch her with a barge pole.
I reckon 1 and 2.

So then the two boys who originally pinched Witch Bitches bum became our mates and were dancing and singing with us. They were very camera happy and I would love to see the videos they took of us, especially one of Pippa and I dancing. Oh, and of course Ben made sure they took a pic of my cleavage. Great. Two turnips from Milton Keyenes have probably got my tits as their profile picture on Facebook. Good times.

Ed Sheeran was actually amazing live. Pixie Lott and Example even turned up to do songs with him which was also pretty awesome. Big thank you to Ben for taking me :)

After the gig, the 4 of us headed into Camden. Well after walking down Kentish Town for 15 mins and me complaining that my nipples were about to cut glass, we jumped into a cab to Bar Solo where some of my friends were partying. Amen for Bar solo. My favourite club. If you like Old school jams, a bit of garage and randomness mixed with Beanie Man, Cameo and new tracks, you need to head there. I can not remember one time I have not had fun there. So the drinking continued, as did the dancing and a great night was had by all!

I have now decided that I need to go to as many gigs as possible as it is so much fun. I love live music. Sorry Pippa, Sideshow Bob (I mean Seasick Steve) will not be one I attend!

Yard Sale'n Saturday

Saturday morning my Mom and I got up bright and early - not really we left at like 8:00 - and set out to do some yard sale'n. We were both yard sale'n newbies but I had heard from a friend that the thing to do was to grab the Saturday newspaper - and find the yard sale section in the classifieds. This was a GREAT tip. They specify whether or not it is an estate sale and also mention the type of items that are going to be at the sale. For example, I was mostly interested in furniture so we detoured away from those that didn't indicate that they had any furniture for sale. So, a little Starbucks and the newspaper we were on our way....We completely hit the jackpot on our very first stop. It was a semi-estate sale. Which I assume means their just trying to get rid of a ton of stuff but not actually emptying out the entire house. This huge old ladder was our very first score....I'm completely obsessed with how amazing it is.Part of our yard sale loot at the end of the day....I've already started working on all of the transformations - can't wait to share them!It was a very long fun day of yard sale'n. Afterwards, we were pretty beat - a lot of walking and bargaining for one day. At the end of it....football with this gal and guy.

Just a little post about things that I currently love. Beware - this post is slightly materialistic. So, I will preface it by saying that I love Talon and Tillie way more than any of this junk. Got it, yo. I got the new iPhone this week. Wow it's amazing. Needless to say I am most definitely loving it... I am also loving a few perks that come along with the iPhone. First, the Instagram app. The camera on the phone is great but this app makes your photos look uber special. I especially like the Instagram photos I've taken of Tils....2nd in the world of iPhone perks...the My Fitness Pal app. Greatest thing since sliced bread. Promise. I'm way passed obsessed. Ask Talon. I've sat at the dinner table calculating the calories in our meal for the past 10 days. He is annoyed to say the least:) But it is such an amazing tool to help you watch your calorie intake, reach weight loss goals, keep up with how many calories you've burned, etc, etc. It's great!On a cheesier note...my Snuggie! My Dad gave it to me last week and it was just in time because it has gotten quite chilly in Alabama. Now to get Talon the Alabama one so we can make an awesome photo like this...Christmas Card?? I think so:) Last but most definitely not least....our church added a 7:00 service on Sunday nights {it's the same sermon as Sunday mornings}. Talon and I have loved having all of Sunday to rest and play then ending the day by worshiping our one and only. It's a wonderful way to start the week.

We Love Wednesdays & Thursdays

Tal and I do not watch a ton of television. However, we do get excited about our Wednesday and Thursday night shows. Don't get me wrong, we watch our fair share of HGTV and Food Network but it's usually just playing in the background while we get other stuff done. On Wednesday and Thursday nights we actually plop down on the couch and laugh for a good two hours at the TV. Up tonight is Modern Family...we both love it. Our latest television favorite is Up All Night. We're praying it doesn't get canceled after this season!!
Big fans of The Office and Parks and Rec on Thursdays. We also love 30 Rock -- when does the new season start??? Here's to having something to look forward to in the middle of the week!

Ship Wrecked.

My loving mother gave me this ship print a couple of weekends back....really I pulled it out of her goodwill pile....she picked it up from the thrift store several years back. Isn't it funny how things you get from the good will can end up back there? I knew the ship was a hot mess now but with a little love could be a back to life shortly....{look at that sweet pup in the corner -checking things outs}I purchased two cans of Krylon Dual Paint and Primer in one....And got to spraying...The frame was easy...it only took a couple of light coats to lighten it up....The ship print was just taped to this photo mat - I probably should have just went out and bought a new one but in an effort to save money - I sprayed that green one until it was white - it took a lot longer than the frame - here we are about 5 coats in....Here she is back in action...Gotta love cheap art for your walls.
